With Christmas now just around the corner, many people will be looking to plan their festive trips. One of the most popular days out during the season is to Christmas markets - and with plenty held all over the UK, there are lots to choose from. While the best-known ones include Bath, York, and Chester, there are hidden gems dotted around that you won't want to miss.
One of these is the Glasgow Christmas market, which offers festive fun for all the family. This year's festivities are expected to be better than ever as a huge shake-up has been announced: Lochview Theme Park will be taking over as the event runner.
Instead of holding the market in one place, this year punters can enjoy festive "hubs" around Glasgow Green and St Enoch's Square. These new plans are set to "have a broad appeal and be firmly family focused" with Christmas attractions on offer "for all age groups", the council said.
The city is also ready to serve up even more festive magic with its Christmas Lighting Trail, which will transform the centre into a "magical, illuminated journey." Artists have been invited to submit their work, and the trail will celebrate the city's people, places, and stories.
The Christmas market has been praised in years past for its variety of food options as well as shopping. Not only does it have bars and gift stalls for adults to enjoy, but there are rides and activities for children to get stuck in with - making it a family-friendly affair. The hub at St Enoch Square is set to run from November 18th to January 5th this year.
One reviewer wrote on Google: "A wonderful Christmas Market. Last days for shopping. You can find many different and interesting products." Another posted: "Awesome, usual food outlets and shops, but well worth the trip."
A third visitor shared on TripAdvisor: "My kids absolutely loved this. They had a really lovely time. There is a wide variety of food and activities. The only downside is that it is extremely expensive."
Someone else praised the variety of stalls and activities on offer, writing: "Beautiful markets with loads for all ages to see and do. There's unbelievable food choices from Indian to fast Mac & cheese! There are kids rides and adult rides. There are also bars, and it definitely does get you into the festive mood and spirit! There are also some gift stalls, too! Definitely worth a visit with your family or friends!"
