This historical British series had fans "hooked" from the outset, and all five seasons of its drama are available to binge-watch now. First aired in 2015, Poldark went on to have a long and successful run, as fans couldn't help but immerse themselves in the world created by Debbie Horsfield and her novel series on which the TV show is based.
The period drama, which aired on BBC right up until 2019, went on to receive numerous accolades, including a BAFTA, and years later, it continues to rake in raving reviews. The series follows the life of Ross Poldark, who has returned to Cornwall after the American Revolutionary War, where he worked as a British Army officer.
Although upon his return, he quickly realises that his life has drastically changed, as the people around him began to move on without him. It turns out, his childhood sweetheart Elizabeth has since gotten engaged to his cousin Francis; meanwhile, his beloved family estate, known as Nampara, remains in complete ruins.
As the series goes on, we watch as Poldark attempts to rebuild his life in the 18th century - from turbulent relationships to his struggles with societal expectations and his continuous rivalry with George Warleggan.
A Rotten Tomatoes reviewer claimed that they "got hooked quick." They wrote: "The characters are so well cast that they jump out at you and are so believable. Each episode is a roller coaster and twists and turns here and there. Funny in spots and sad in others. It's a fun ride."
Another review reads: "Poldark has everything I look for in a TV series: great characters, adventure, drama, joy, romance, inspiration, and feel-good moments. The acting and the story are not exaggerated like in a soap opera."
"Excellent cast," another satisfied viewer wrote. They continued to say: "I followed this show over the years, and it hooks you in, and it will evoke emotions. Sometimes the characters make stupid decisions that don't make sense, which can be aggravating...
"But overall it is a wonderful drama. Poldark certainly captures the ups and downs of being human. It is an intriguing story."
One thing that seems to be a common thread amongst fans is their love for the cast in the show. At the heart of it all is Aidan Turner, who plays Captain Ross Vennor Poldark, alongside British actress Eleanor Tomlinson as Demelza Poldark and Kyle Soller, who plays Francis Poldark.

An adoring viewer shared: "Aiden Turner's portrayal of Ross is absolutely amazing, so much so that it moved me to tears. I'll recommend this show to everyone I meet for the rest of my life. Well done, Debbie Horsfield."
Someone else wrote: "Great acting, fantastic visuals, exciting stories. What more could you want?" And another fan put it pretty simply, saying: "Hands down one of the best shows on Television... bravo."
To get to grips with the world in which Horsfield created over five "exciting" series, you can stream each episode of Poldark now on BBC iPlayer. Alternatively, it's now available to stream on Netflix.
