Hampshire residents are set for a treat tomorrow as the Red Arrows take to the skies, passing over the New Forest and nearby coastal spots in one of their most eye-catching transits of the summer. The Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team will be returning to base after another of their trademark displays - this time at the Eastbourne International Airshow - giving those in parts of Hampshire a chance to see the famous formation without travelling to the main event.
The jets are scheduled to leave Bournemouth Airport at 3.11pm, flying out across the Solent towards the Isle of Wight before continuing east to Eastbourne for an afternoon performance. Once their display is complete, the nine Hawk T1 jets are expected to begin their return west along the south coast at approximately 3.55pm. If the weather is clear, the distinctive red aircraft should be visible over the sea from Gosport and Fareham as they make their way home.
Spectators in Gosport may want to head to Stokes Bay Road, while Lee-on-the-Solent's Marine Parade could also offer an excellent view of the formation as it passes by.
Shortly afterwards, the Red Arrows will make a low flypast over Lepe, giving beachgoers a dramatic close-up before turning inland.
The aircraft are then due to pass over Lymington at roughly 4.15pm, just minutes before their scheduled arrival back at Bournemouth Airport at 4.18pm.
As always, the RAF stresses that all routes and timings are subject to weather conditions and operational requirements, meaning the exact schedule can shift at short notice. Anyone hoping to catch a glimpse is advised to keep an eye on official updates and to arrive at viewing spots in plenty of time.
The appearance is part of a packed August for the Red Arrows, who will continue to bring their precision flying to events across the UK and overseas.
In the coming weeks, the team is set to perform in Cornwall, Norfolk, Essex and Devon, as well as making appearances in Denmark, Romania and Poland.
