Marks and Spencer has revealed the latest twist on its most famous treat - an ice cream version of Colin the Caterpillar. The retailer teased the launch earlier this month with a cryptic video showing the iconic chocolate cake tucked inside a freezer.
Beneath it, the caption read: "On the HOTTEST day of the month ... we're announcing something 'cool'." The hint immediately set social media buzzing. "Whatttttttt Colin ice cream cake??!!! NEED!!!" wrote one shopper, while another said: "Whatever this is, I'm so ready." Fans shared their own wish lists, with one declaring: "Please let it be a Colin choc ice! Like one big one and mini ones on sticks."
Another commented: "I've always said there should be an ice cream Colin!!!" To that, Marks and Spencer replied: "Here you go! Your wish is granted! :)"
The company has now confirmed that the new product will be a frozen take on the supermarket favourite. It even comes served with chocolate beans, echoing the traditional cake.
According to documents submitted to the UK's Intellectual Property Office, Marks and Spencer has applied to trademark the frozen Colin cake and filed a pack shot as part of the process. The application is awaiting approval.
Reaction online has been enthusiastic. One fan posted on X (formerly Twitter): "Okay, Colin as an ice cream cake is a game-changer, this is next-level." Another simply wrote: "Colin delivers again and again and again."
The launch marks the latest in a long line of spin-offs for Colin, who has become a household name since first appearing on shelves in 1990.
From seasonal outfits to wedding versions, the caterpillar has been reinvented countless times - but never before in frozen form.
