As temperatures drop and rainfall increases, escaping London to discover fresh destinations might seem tempting. However, if you're reluctant to endure lengthy journeys to distant places, one individual revealed what he considers the ideal spot for an autumn day excursion, and you can get there via the London Underground.
Samuel, recognised as 'LostInSamuel' across social media, regularly uses TikTok to showcase his favourite recommendations for hidden gems throughout London and the UK.
In a recent clip, he encouraged Londoners to journey on the Underground to reach a town situated an hour from central London, which he declared was the perfect destination for an autumnal day out.
The video opens with Samuel strolling along a pathway beside what looks like countryside, with the town centre visible ahead, featuring grand residential properties and views of an ancient church spire.
"The perfect autumn day trip is just under an hour from London on the underground," appeared in the text overlay.
The footage proceeded to display highlights from Samuel's town visit, featuring exploration of the Grade I listed church, wandering through the town square, followed by a stroll through the surrounding woodland.
Despite the seemingly overcast conditions, the town still boasted vibrant splashes of colour throughout, including numerous floral displays and an abundance of trees and shrubs that had begun to transform into rusty orange and crimson hues.
"Welcome to the ultimate day trip from London, a charming town where Four Weddings and a Funeral was filmed!" he wrote in the caption of the video. "I can't believe you can get to this gorgeous village just in less than an hour from London on the underground!"
The destination in question is Amersham, situated in Buckinghamshire and serving as one of the final stops on the Metropolitan Line of the London Underground, making it an accessible location for capital dwellers to reach.
The town has appeared in a long list of beloved films and TV shows, most notably the 1994 blockbuster, Four Weddings and a Funeral, starring Hugh Grant, Andie MacDowell, and Rowan Atkinson.
The neighbourhood pub, The Kings Arms Hotel, served as the filming venue for the picture, and was subsequently utilised for Midsummer Murders.
The Kings Arms traces its origins to the 1400s, and currently offers 35 rooms available for guests to reserve. It's encircled by independent boutiques, antique establishments, and additional public houses.
To reach Amersham, Samuel suggests boarding the Metropolitan Line at Baker Street and travelling to the final destination, Amersham.
Upon arrival, he explained that the adventure becomes "even better" as visitors must traverse a woodland via Rectory Hill to reach Amersham Old Town. However, he reassured travellers that a secure pathway is available for the journey.
