In a daring and meticulously planned robbery, robbers looted 18 kg of gold worth approximately ₹17 crore from Sai Santoshi Jewellers in Suryapet, Telangana. The incident occurred over the weekend when the shop remained shut for two consecutive days—Saturday and Sunday—giving the culprits ample time to execute their plan.
Here's what happened:1. Precision Planning & Execution
The robbers:
-
Drilled holes in the rear wall of the shop at night
-
Cut open the front shutter using a gas cutter
-
Broke into the strong room by creating another hole in its wall
-
Opened the iron safe and looted only gold, avoiding other items
2. CCTV Disabled Before the Crime
Before starting the looting, the robbers disabled all CCTV cameras inside the shop. However, cameras in the surrounding areas are being scanned for clues.
3. Discovery and Police Involvement
The shop owner, Tedla Kishore, discovered the break-in on Monday morning, after returning from the weekend break. He noticed:
-
Dust all over the shop
-
A hole in the strong room wall
-
The safe completely emptied
Kishore immediately informed the police, following which:
-
A team led by DSP Prasanna Kumar reached the spot
-
Forensic experts and investigators began examining the scene
-
Employees and nearby locals are being questioned
The police are considering the involvement of an interstate gang, given the sophistication of the crime. Authorities are also probing internal involvement, as the robbers appeared to be well-informed about the shop’s layout and schedule.
Similar Heists on the RiseThis incident follows a recent trend of high-value jewellery store heists across the country, with criminals using advanced tools and insider information to bypass security systems.
The Suryapet police have assured that all angles, including inside support, gang involvement, and security lapses, are being investigated thoroughly. More updates are expected soon.
