Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn, known for his disciplined and composed image, has opened up about his long journey with alcohol — from starting at the age of 14 to giving it up through sheer willpower and self-control. The actor, who made his smashing debut with the 1991 blockbuster Phool Aur Kaante, admitted that he once drank heavily but eventually decided to make a change after visiting a wellness spa.
Ajay revealed that he used to be a regular drinker and even experimented in unusual ways — like mixing alcohol with a rasgulla and drinking it. However, he has now cut down drastically. In a candid interview, he said, “To be honest, I don’t hide what I do. I used to drink a lot. But now I’ve reached a point where I can tell people that alcohol isn’t for those who don’t drink at all. It’s okay for those who drink in moderation. I was drinking more than I should have. So I went to a wellness spa and quit.”
While he has largely distanced himself from alcohol, Ajay shared that he now occasionally enjoys premium, limited-edition malt whisky — but in strict moderation. “I now limit myself to one or two glasses, each of just 30 ml. I don’t drink vodka anymore; I prefer quality over quantity,” he said. The malts he refers to reportedly cost around ₹60,000 per bottle.
Interestingly, Ajay admits that even when he drank heavily, he “never got high.” He once joked, “My problem is, no matter how much I drink, I don’t feel it.” Today, his drinking has become more of a quiet ritual than indulgence — a small sip with food, not exceeding the 30 ml limit.
Despite his earlier struggles, Ajay Devgn stands as one of Bollywood’s most successful and stable stars, owning property worth over ₹400 crore and continuing to deliver box-office hits. His disciplined lifestyle, post his wellness transformation, is a reflection of the balance he now maintains — both personally and professionally.
