Lewis Hamilton hatches Ferrari F44 plan after selling ENTIRE £13m luxury car collection

Lewis Hamilton has confirmed that he has offloaded his entire car collection, switching his focus towards art instead. The Formula 1 legend was known for his impressive collection of supercars but revealed at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix that he has flogged his previously prized possessions.

Amongst the motors in his garage was a Mercedes-AMG One, which he helped shape during the design process during his time racing for and winning six F1 titles with the Silver Arrows' racing team, along with his legendary Ferrari machines.

Hamilton has been collecting cars since the beginning of his F1 journey, building up as many as 15 luxury vehicles with a total value of around £13million. Nevertheless, the seven-time champion's car enthusiast era now seems to have come to an end.

"I don't have any cars anymore," the Ferrari driver revealed ahead of Sunday's Baku race. "I don't have any cars, so I got rid of all my cars. I'm more into art nowadays. If I was going to get a car, it would be the [Ferrari] F40. But that's a nice piece of art."

Hamilton possessed a vast array of motors, featuring Mercedes and Ferrari vehicles. He owned several of the latter even before his blockbuster move to join the Italian company's famous F1 outfit ahead of this season, which became the most publicised driver move in the sport's history.

The Brit made two purchases for the Mercedes-AMG One – one for himself and another for his father – and also flaunted a Mercedes-Maybach S600, plus a Mercedes EQC SUV in his fleet. The racing legend also possessed three Ferraris, featuring the exclusive 599 SA Aperta, valued at over £2m and restricted to merely 80 models worldwide.

Hamilton has even parted ways with his vintage Ford Mustang Shelby, which carried a price tag exceeding £4m. While Hamilton has no plans to reignite his collecting days, the 40-year-old remains very much interested in car design.

Ahead of his Ferrari debut in Melbourne, he revealed: "One of the things I really want to do is to design a Ferrari. I want to do an F44. Baseline of an F40, with the actual stick shift. That's what I'm gonna work on for the next few years."

For now, though, Hamilton's efforts are concentrated on assisting Ferrari in their constructors' championship battle with Mercedes, and bringing an end to his wait for a maiden podium with his new F1 team. Nevertheless, the Stevenage-born driver isn't optimistic about securing his 106th Grand Prix triumph, and first with Ferrari, in 2025.

"A win is a bit far-fetched, considering I've been sixth, seventh and eighth for most of the season," he admitted in Baku. "I would love to get a podium for the team at some stage. Charles [Leclerc] has had five of them. I feel optimistic coming into the weekend. I feel like I've found a couple of things, and now I need to work on extracting them. So, I really hope that this weekend can be the start of that."
