Gayaji: A video showing a Booth Level Officer (BLO) being confronted for allegedly collecting a ₹40 bribe in Bihar's Gaya district has gone viral on social media. The bribe was reportedly taken in the name of adding names to the voter list.
BLO Gauri Shankar, posted at Urdu Booth Number 119 of Madhya Vidyalaya Nauranga, was allegedly confronted for openly collecting money from voters under the pretext of filling out online forms.
In the viral video, the BLO is confronted by a man who questions whether he took a bribe for the form. The BLO can be heard replying, “Chai-pani le ke diya.”
The man then asks if the voter registration form is meant to be chargeable. To this, the BLO responds, “Wapas le lo, halla mat karo” — which translates to, “Take it back if you want, but don’t make a scene.”
According to the man in the video, the BLO had accepted the money through an online payment.
