Pakistan has given the Test cap to left-arm spinner Asif Afridi in the ongoing second Test against South Africa in Rawalpindi on Monday.
Afridi is 38 years and 299 days, making him the third-oldest cricketer to debut in Tests for Pakistan. He recieved his cap from Shaheen Afridi and replaced pacer Hasan Ali in the playing 11.
Afridi was preferred over leg spinner Abrar Ahmed to partner regulars, Noman Ali and Sajid Khan. The hosts lead the two-match Test series 1-0, having won the first game by 93 runs. Afridi's Test selection comes after his consistent shows domestically.
