Send Push
Apple has released a security upgrade for users of iOS 18 and iPadOS 18, addressing a critical vulnerability identified as CVE-2025-43300. The vulnerability involves an out-of-bounds write issue, which has been resolved through improved bounds checking. According to Apple, processing a malicious image file could lead to memory corruption. The company added that it is aware of a report indicating the vulnerability may have been exploited in an extremely sophisticated attack targeting specific individuals.

On mobile devices, the upgrade is available for iPhone XS and later; iPad Pro 13-inch; iPad Pro 12.9-inch (2nd generation and later); iPad Pro 11-inch (1st generation and later); iPad Pro 10.5-inch; iPad Air (3rd generation and later); iPad (6th generation and later); and iPad mini (5th generation and later). The update is also available for macOS Sequoia, macOS Sonoma, and macOS Ventura.

Apple encourages users to install Rapid Security Responses, which deliver important security improvements faster than regular software updates. To enable automatic installation of Rapid Security Responses:

  • Go to Settings > General > Software Update

  • Tap Automatic Updates

  • Turn on Security Responses & System Files

Users who prefer not to have these responses installed automatically can install them manually like regular software updates. To remove a Rapid Security Response:

  • Go to Settings > General > About

  • Tap iOS Version

  • Tap Remove Security Response

Users can reinstall the response later or wait for it to be permanently included in a future standard software update.
