Anand Mahindra’s latest Monday motivation is an 82-year-old woman from Pollachi, Tamil Nadu, who is showing the world that age is no barrier to strength. Meet Kittammal V, a grandmother who stunned everyone by competing in powerlifting championships and proving that determination—not years—sets the limits. Her story of grit and energy has gone viral, with Mahindra praising her for lifting not just weights, but spirits too.

Kittammal recently grabbed attention at the ‘Strong Man of South India’ contest in Kuniyamuthur, where she competed against 17 women, all under 30. She secured fifth place in the open women’s category by deadlifting 50 kg, a feat inspired by her grandsons Rohith and Rithik, who encouraged her to take up the sport.

Her training and diet
Speaking to TOI, she explained that strength training came naturally to her since she was used to carrying 25 kg rice bags and fetching dozens of pots of water daily. With her grandsons’ guidance, she slowly shifted from household weights to gym training, learning deadlifting techniques over the past month.

Kittammal also credits her lifelong diet for her stamina. She has been eating porridge made of finger millet and pearl millet, eggs, moringa soup, and boiled vegetables since childhood—simple foods she believes fuel her energy and keep her active even at 82.

Internet reacts
Users called Kittammal’s achievement motivating and empowering, with many describing it as a true example of strength and determination. Some said her story is a reminder that the human body is capable of much more than society often makes us believe. Others praised the incredible spirit she displayed, while many highlighted that her journey proves age is just a number when fueled by willpower and dreams.
