Suryakumar Yadav's Huge 'Pahalgam' Statement: Dedicates Asia Cup Win vs PAK to Armed Forces

Skipper Suryakumar Yadav dedicated India’s crushing win over Pakistan in Asia Cup 2025 to the Indian armed forces. He also said that the Indian players stood by the families of the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack. Suryakumar said this at the post-match conference. For the unversed, a terror attack on April 22 by Pakistan-based terrorists claimed the lives of 26 civilians in Pahalgam. On May 7, the Indian armed forces launched Operation Sindoor during which many terror camps and Pakistani military installations were destroyed.

India dominated the game and Suryakumar, who was celebrating his 35th birthday, had reason to celebrate as his side made a mockery of Pakistan in Asia Cup 2025. India have now won 11 out of 14 T20Is played vs Pakistan. In Asia Cup T20Is, they have three wins in four games. In overall Asia Cup games, India have won 11 out of 20. The numbers show the domination of India clearly.

Suryakumar Yadav’s Praise for Armed Forces and solidarity with Pahalgam Victims’ Families

"Perfect occasion, taking the time out - we stand by the families of the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack. We express our solidarity. I want to dedicate the win to all our armed forces who showed a lot of bravery. Hope they continue to inspire us all, and we give them more reasons on the ground whenever we get an opportunity to make them smile," he said.

"Great feeling and a perfect return gift to India. Human tendency that it keeps running in your mind when you think about it (his earlier line about the win being a return gift). You definitely want to win it, and when you win it, you have it ready. One box that I always wanted to tick - stay there and bat till the end," he added.

"For the whole team, we think it's just another game. We prepare the same for all oppositions. That's what happened a few months back. The team that won the CT set the tone. I'm always a fan of spinners because they control the game in the middle," he continued.

Suryakumar’s 47 not out took India home by seven wickets with 25 balls to spare as they chased down their target of 128. Earlier, Kuldeep Yadav’s 3/18 helped India restrict Pakistan to 127/9. There is a big chance India will play Pakistan again on September 21 in the Super Four as it is most likely both will qualify. India’s last Group A game is against Oman on September 19. Pakistan play hosts UAE on September 17.
